Reynisdrangar are basalt sea stacks situated under the mountain Reynisfjall near the village Vík í Mýrdal, southern Iceland.<br><br>According to legend the Reynisdrangar needles were formed when two trolls were trying to drag a three-masted ship to land. When daylight broke they turned to stone. The Needles can be seen clearly from the village of Vík and are 66 meters above sea level at their highest. In one of the many caves here ? there is a local legend about a monster having lived here for many centuries. The monster seems to have disappeared after a landslide over 100 years ago?

It is situated on the Jökulsá á Fjöllum river, which flows from the Vatnajökull glacier and collects water from a large area in Northeast Iceland. The falls are 100 m wide and have a drop of 44 m down to the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon. It is the largest waterfall in Europe in terms of volume discharge, having an average water flow of 200 m3/s. The waterfall can only be reached by a rough road.

Two of the most popular mountains among hikers are Blahnukur (meaning "blue peak") and Brennisteinsalda (meaning "sulphur wave").<br><br>Landmannaluagar is a popular tourist destination. Tourists visit the area from June through late September, after which time the road is closed. A mountain lodge, in operation since 1951, can accommodate 78 people and has basic amenities.
