Omschrijving

In 1989, the year of the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution the department of the north France decided to bring the Bastille elephant back to life. In the years between 2000 and 2010 this was again celebrated by a very large parade that would take 3 months but in which also the festivities of India were celebrated! And there these glorious elephants came! Mounted in a workshop on the outskirts of a large city these two 9 meter elephants arrived with eleven other "baby" elephants off 3 meters high. These fiberglass and metal frame elephants were designed by one of Bollywood's most renowned film production leaders. During the three months of these festivities, hundreds of artistic events took place in all areas: painting, music, culinary arts, theater, exhibitions, public events, etc. The budget of 7.5 million euros was fully supported by the city and department of the North France. The elephants should actually be sent back to India but that didn't happened for unknown reasons. Now it has become an official monument somewhere in a semi-unstable shed and they are dusting away ...
