On a beautiful day in August I wanted to capture the purple splendor of the blossoming heather in my native region as beautifully as possible. When this Small Copper (Lycaena phlaeas) landed right in front of me on a blooming heather branch, I was able to create the image I had in mind.

I started with film photography at the age of twelve, way before the invention of digital cameras. Those were good times and I remember the magical moments when images seemed to appear out of nowhere on photographic papers soaked in chemical liquids. Still I’m also happy we have electronic sensors now and can record our images to digital media in unlimited quantities.
