Royal Rock Temple is considered as one of the ancient Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka. It is enriched with its archeological and artistic value that has been declared as a World Heritage by the UNESCO.
The beautiful Royal Rock Temple sits 100m to 150m above the road in the southern part of Dambulla. The hike up to the temples begins along a vast, sloping rock face with steps in some places.
The caves? history as a place of worship is thought to date from around the 1st century BC, when King Valagamba (Vattajamini Ahhaya), driven out of Anuradhapura, took refuge here.
There are five separate caves containing about 150 Buddha images. Most of the paintings in the temples date from the 19th century.
My name is Inez Wijker and I am a passionate photographer.
My specialty is capturing a specific spontaneous moment in time. I call my photographs "magic moments", because they are often made in a magical split second.
For me photography is a way to record everything I like or think is fascinating or am otherwise touched by. Feelings are in that moment 100% leading.
